We showed her work at Fresh Art Fair, Cheltenham Racecourse May 2017 Thorie was born on the Canadian Prairies and received her Masters of Fine Arts(Honours) in 1982 from the University of Windsor, Ontario. She arrived in Great Britain in 1993 and lives in the SW.
‘In my work, I attempt to leave myself open to the world of experiences and to reflect on the discoveries and explorations of my past and present. On canvas and paper, the gradual build-up of forms and space, the balance of colour and line, the capturing of light creates a complex and unified whole. Each painting is a forum to explore the more abstract process of personal mark-making. It can be great fun just to move the paint around.
Every person responds in a unique way to each painting: a link established between the viewer and the image is theirs and theirs alone.’
Thorie has exhibited regularly in the UK and Canada. Her work is held in numerous private collections in Canada, Australia, Hong Kong and the UK. Public collections include the QE2(Cunard Line) and the Government of Manitoba in Canada.
